About BHS
Bryan High School, the only high school in the Bryan Independent School District, is a four-year public school. The high school consists of the main campus, plus the Hammond-Oliver School for the Human Sciences. Enrollment has reached approximately 3,700 students in grades 9-12 with the ethnic mix of 40% Anglo, 25% African American, and 35% Hispanic.
Approximately 250 professional staff members are employed in the high school. Of these, 40% are teachers who average eleven or more years of experience in the field of education.
Bryan High School students routinely qualify for nationally-sponsored scholarships such as the National Merit and National Achievement Scholars. State institutions and organizations as well as local community groups award numerous scholarships to provide BHS graduates the opportunity for further education. The 2004-2005 mean SAT score was 1041 with an average ACT score of 20.2.
Bryan High School is committed to the belief that education makes a difference and that each student is unique and capable of learning. The staff continually strives to offer each student an environment where everyone is encouraged to attain his/her personal best.
