Through Texas Tech University, students can take a correspondence course or "test out" of a course by taking credit-by-exam (CBE). Visit www.dce.ttu.edu for more information.
CREDIT-BY-EXAM (CBE)
Students can "test out" of a course by taking a final exam in that course. The exam will need to be sent to BHS to be proctored by an advisor. For more information, or to set up a test date, contact Desiree Skinner at 209-2506 or dskinner@bryanisd.org.
There are two types of CBE: remediation and acceleration.
CBE for remediation can be taken if a student fails a course with a 60-69.
* The cost is $30.
* Credit is earned for a score of 70 or better.
CBE for acceleration is taken to get ahead on coursework; the student cannot have taken the course before.
* BISD gives CBE for acceleration in the summer only.
* The cost is $30.
* Credit is earned for a score of 90 or better.
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES
In a correspondence course, the student will be sent lessons by a professor. You can choose to take the course online or have paper lessons sent to you. Upon completing each lesson, the student sends it back to the professor, who grades it. A final exam will be sent to BHS to be proctored by an advisor. Credit is earned for a score of 70 or better.
