Students at Lamar Alternative have a 4- to 6-period day, depending on course work needed, TAKS status, and extenuating personal circumstances.  Courses are either self-paced or direct instruction, depending on a student's needs.

Admission to Lamar Alternative is based on assessment (scores on the TABE test or Exit Level TAKS test), attendance, behavior, and an interview.  Students who are interested in attending Lamar Alternative should first visit with their Bryan High School or Rudder High School Academic Advisor who will give them an application.  After the application is complete, the student may then go to Lamar Alterative to take TABE and to schedule an interview.

The next TABE test will be Tuesday, November 6th at 8:00 a.m. in room 104.
(Typically, TABE is administered on every Tuesday and interviews are scheduled for Thursday; however, during state testing windows, the TABE test is not administered.)
