Navarro Neighborhood
Follow Community Circle to visit the areas of Navarro Neighborhood that are shared by all of our students.
When you walk into Navarro Elementary, you will enter on Community Circle, the main street of Navarro Neighborhood. You will be greeted by our attendance clerk or our secretary in the front office. You may see our counselor leaving her office with a mysterious cart full of items she will use in a classroom as visuals to engage the students in her lesson. Or you may see the smiling face of our principal as she leaves her office to visit the cafeteria or a classroom.
Also, you will pass the Navarro teacher resource center and the Library, full of students checking out books so they can gain AR points and reach their yearly AR reading goal. Our librarian stays very busy checking out books and coordinating the AR program.
Another important address on Community Circle is the nurse's office where our nurse takes care of student health needs.
Our music room and art room also reside on Community Circle. Our music teacher teaches fun songs and dramas as evidenced by the programs presented by students throughout the year and you can find student art work displayed throughout the building.
The HOSTS lab is also located on Community Circle. HOSTS stands for Help One Student to Succeed and is an individualized remedial reading program that uses volunteers from the community to mentor students one on one in reading. Navarro HOSTS has received many awards including the Betty Scharff HOSTS Teacher of the Year Award, Principal of the Year Award, and the National Exemplary Award.
A walk down Community Circle takes a visitor into the heart of Navarro Neighborhood.
The office is a pleasant and friendly place for visitors as well residents of Navarro Neighborhood!
