Even Start Family Literacy Program
*This program is designed to assist families with a literacy or language need. The families must have the following needs to participate:
1) Low level of literacy or English language proficiency.
2) Low level of income.
3) At least one child under the age of 7.
4) Live within the Bryan ISD service area.
*Parents wishing to attend this program must come to the Adult Learning Center and sign up on the waiting list. Once they are accepted into the program, they will need to fill out a contract stating that they will complete all components of the program. These components consist of:
-Attending classes Monday-Thursday from 9-2pm.
-Completing 4 hours each week of parenting.
-Attending ESL or GED classes.
-Eating breakfast and lunch with their child.
-Spending 30 minutes per day working with their child on literacy needs.
** While the parent is attending classes from 9-2pm each day, the children will attend Early Childhood Education classes.
** All services are offered free of charge to families that are admitted into the program.
