Merrill Green Stadium & Field House
Merrill Green Stadium, originally named Viking Stadium, was built in 1972 at 3310 Oak Ridge Drive. It is a berm stadium with seating for 10,800. It is the home site for football games, soccer matches, track relays and other BHS and community events. In addition, the stadium hosts several playoff games a year for football and soccer. The stadium has undergone major renovations since its original construction. The field has been upgraded with new drainage, irrigation and Tiff 419 grass turf. The field has a laser graded 9" crown and will drain at 1/2" per hour.
In 2005, three concession and restroom facilities were constructed and handicap ramps and seating were updated. In 2008, Viking Stadium was officially renamed Merrill Green Stadium in honor of the first head football coach of Bryan High School. An LED virtual scoreboard was added to the stadium in the fall of 2008 adding graphics and playback features.
Parking is available at the high school parking lots located across from Campus Drive, Oak Ridge and Barak. Handicap parking spaces are available in the two faculty lots adjacent to the field on Campus Drive. Overflow parking is available at the Wal-Mart Superstore. Visitors are ask not to park at the Bryan Aquatic Center.
The Viking football/soccer fields have won state and national awards during the last few years. David Hanus is the Head Grounds Keeper.
In addition to the stadium field, three additional practice fields are available for football and soccer practices. All three fields are used for 7-on-7 play during the summer months.
