Hammond-Oliver High School for Human Sciences
The Hammond-Oliver High School for Human Sciences opened in 1993, when a former hospital building was converted to its present day use.
The school is named after William A. Hammond, who opened the community's first hospital for African Americans in his home, and William H. Oliver, who organized the first real hospital in the community that is currently St. Joseph's Regional Hospital.
It allows Bryan High students in grades 9-12 to spend half-days in an academically challenging curriculum designed for those with an interest in health care.
Resources within the Bryan/College Station regional medical complex are utilized as students participate in field trips and internships with the programs.
