Acadec - Academic Decathlon Meetings: Every Monday from 4:00-5:00 in Room 1203 The United States Academic Decathlon is a team competition wherein students match their intellects with students from other schools. Students are tested in ten categories: Art, Economics, Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Science, Social Science, and Speech.

AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination AVID is an organization which is dedicated to helping students who meet the following criteria: 2.0-3.5 GPA, college potential with support, desire and determination, first to attend college, historically under-served in 4 year colleges, low income, and/or special circumstances.
AVID Club - Advancement Via Individual Determination Club Meetings: Every Wednesday - 8:00 AM in Room 5225 AVID Club serves as the decision making group for AVID students. Activities include planning the AVID Family Pot Luck, T-shirt design, fundraisers and service opportunities.
Art Club Meetings: Every other Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 in Room 4148 Art Club is a club for furthering the exploration of the visual arts. The Art Club will meet to produce special projects and organize exhibitions of the arts. Membership will be open to all students wishing to join; no previous artistic training is required.
Band The Viking Marching Band participates in UIL marching contests, community parades, pep rallies, and football games. There is also a Concert Band and a Jazz Band. Membership requires an audition and approval from the directors.
Color Guard / Winter Guard Color Guard is a year long activity. Training season begins in the summer months with dance and equipment camps. The fall semester is spent rehearsing/performing with the Viking Marching Band with November through April
dedicated to the Winter Guard competitive season.
Winter Drumline Winter Drumline starts at the basics for people who want to learn how to play the drums from scratch.
BEST Robotics - Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology Meetings: Daily in 2nd period BEST is a non-profit, volunteer organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports-like, science- and engineering-based robotics competition.

Business Professionals of America Meetings: 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month BPA prepares students for the workforce through the advancement of leadership, academics, citizenship, and technological skills. Students meet to exchange information an ideas. Students participate in competitive events and in community service.
Campus Crimestoppers Meetings: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 4:00pm in room 6132 We are a board of students that are interested in keeping our campus safe, secure, and free of drugs and weapons. The Student Board meets every other week to discuss and vote on the reward amounts that are given to confidential informants. The Board never knows the names of the individuals that are involved in the illegal activity or of the informants. Their decisions are based solely upon the information given to them by the School Resource Officers. Our activities involve fundraising to increase our reward money budget and attendance at the annual State Campus Crime Stoppers Conference.
Cheerleading Cheerleaders and a mascot are selected each spring by a panel of professional judges. There are Varsity and Junior Varsity squads. Their main purpose is to promote school spirit and school pride at athletic events and pep rallies. They attend summer camp and compete.

Class Council - Sophomore Meetings: TBA Plan and raise funds for the Sadie Hawkins dance in the spring.
Class Council - Junior Meetings: Every Tuesday at 8:00 in Room 5240 Main responsibility is to provide all the planning and financial support for prom. It also helps organize the Powder Puff football game between junior and senior girls.
Class Council - Senior Meetings: Every Friday Morning at 8:00 in Room 5236 Serves as the decision making group for senior related items such as Senior spirit activities, class gift, Senior name shirt, etc. It also decorates the commons for Homecoming and sponsors Powder Puff football.
Choir The choirs performs a Fall Concert, Feast of Carols, Broadway Musicals, a UIL Concert and a Spring Showstoppers! Concert. Competition opportunities include All-Region Choir and All-State Choir, UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest, UIL Sightreading and Concert Contest. The choirs at BHS consistently place students in Region and All-State Choirs. They also consistently receive Sweepstakes rating at UIL Contest. There is an out-of-state trip, usually to New York City, every third year.
Computer Science Club Meetings: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays Computer Science club encourages education in the field of computer science through participation in numerous competitions, year-long training, and community service. CS club will represent Bryan High in several competitions in the computer science field. CS club also tutors students who desire help in the field of Computer Science. All students are encouraged and welcomed.
Criminal Justice Skills USA Meetings: 2nd and 4th period, Wednesdays at 4:30 This club consists of students that have an interest in the Criminal Justice Field. The majority of the students are in criminal justice classes at BHS, but the club is open to all students. We do community service projects such as fingerprinting/id kits with elementary students, participate in food drives, and assist with reading programs and fundraisers. Activities include field trips to local area prisons, guest speakers (such as law enforcement agents, probation & parole officers, lawyers, university criminal justice professors, government agents), and trips to local colleges that have criminal justice programs. We also work closely with BHS Campus Crimestoppers club. The purpose of the club is to promote student awareness of the criminal justice line of work. Meetings are held twice a month.
FCA - Fellowship of Christian Athletes Meetings: Every Wednesday night from 8:30-9:30 in student homes The main goals of FCA are to encourage peers, grow spiritually, and bring people to Jesus Christ. The group meets once a week at various members’ houses. Meetings include singing, Bible studies, guest speakers, helpful videos, and peer testimonies. FCA assists with many events such as the Viking Relays and Fields of Faith

Gospel Choir Meetings: Every Thursday at 4:00 in room 6148 This club sings songs of inspiration and praise, participates in community and church related activities, and provides mentor relationships to elementary and secondary students. We coordinate and implement programs such as Black History Recognition, talent shows, musicals, and live performances.

Habitat for Humanity Meetings: Every other Thursday in Room 5215
HOSA – Hammond Oliver Student Association Meetings: Monthly at Hammond Oliver This club is for Hammond-Oliver students enrolled in Health Science Technology (HST) classes. HOSA participates in educational, service, and social activities throughout the year. Students also compete in regional, state, and national competitions.
HYPE - Hispanic Youth Promoting Education Meetings: Every other Thursday 4:00-5:00 in Room 2126 The purpose of H.Y.P.E is to encourage students, mainly Hispanic students, to plan to further their education beyond high school. We are also a community service organization helping with different community projects. Activities: Two regular meetings a month, one after school and the other in the evening. We go to A&M for Shadow Day with CAMAC (Committee for Awareness of Mexican American Culture). We attend the Houston Hispanic Career and Education Day. We have speakers who are good role models and encourage our students to go to college. We participate in the 16 of
September Fiestas Patrias, Christmas on Beck Street, and give a needy family Christmas gifts. Our big community project is sponsoring the Bryan High Cultural Fiesta in April.
International Thespian Society Meetings: Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 in Room 4152-Fine Arts Building Drama is a co-curricular activity that provides practical experiences in acting and stagecraft. Members produce public performances of one or more plays and participate in the UIL One-Act Play competition. Drama is offered as both a class and a club.

Key Club Meetings: Every Tuesday 8:00 AM or 4:00 PM in Room 6129A This club is the high school Kiwanis (Kiwanis is a community service organization for a city). Key Club is a community service-oriented organization/club. We sponsor projects which are geared towards helping community groups. We also do fund raisers to fund these projects. Our projects include Friday Football Fever with KBTX, Senior Citizen Prom, Christmas on Beck Street, toy or book drives, Make a Difference Day, and Senior Citizen Valentines.
Latin Club Meetings: <not currently active> Students
share their interest in the Latin language, ancient Greece and Rome, and mythology. The club informs the community about Latin and establishes ties with other Latin clubs in the state and country.
Media Tech Meetings: Starting November, 1st Thursday of every month after school This club is for students enrolled in Media Technology or interested in media related fields (i.e. radio, television, film). Students participate in leadership opportunities, take field trips, and attend MTC meetings where student projects may be shown.
National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America) Meetings: Third Monday at 6:30 PM The National FFA Organization is an organization that prepares and supports individuals for careers, builds awareness for the food, fiber, and natural resource systems, and develops leadership. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership and career success through agricultural education. Through participation in Leadership Development Events, Career Development Events, Leadership Conferences, and Leadership Conventions, students become eligible for a number of leadership positions,
advanced awards, and scholarships. The Bryan FFA chapter provides students with an Agriscience Project Center and a fully automated greenhouse for the production of plant and animal projects. Note: A student must be enrolled in at least one Agriscience course per year in order to participate in FFA activities.
NHS - National Honor Society Meetings: Contact for calendar Selected students are involved in activities designed to recognize and encourage academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens of a democracy, such as scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Projects include fundraisers, such as candy grams, and community service activities such as
an annual blood drive.
NSBE - National Society of Black Engineers Meetings: Every other Tuesday from 4:00-5:00 The NSBE experience empowers every member to reach his or her full potential. We encourage our membership to continue the legacy while maintaining leadership roles in NSBE, black communities, and other professional organizations. We instill pride and add value to our members which causes them to want to give back to NSBE in order to produce a continuum of success. Members interact with mentors and participate in academic competitions.
NVTHS - National Vocational Technology Honor Society Meetings: First Wednesday Morning in Room 6143 NVTHS is an honor society for students who are part of the technology curriculum. Students are nominated by teachers in the spring of every year.
Orchestra The string orchestra performs in three concerts per year: a fall, Christmas, and spring concert. They also compete in UIL contests, participate in Solo & Ensemble, All-Region and State try-outs, and take an annual trip.
Fundraisers include candy sales, car washes, and bake sales to raise money for scholarships, trips, and letter jackets. Orchestra includes: Symphony, Chamber, Concert, BHS String Quintet, and The Swingin’ Strings.
PALs - Peer Assistance and Leadership Meetings: scheduled
class PALs provide guidance and mentoring for peers and younger children on issues like self esteem, drug awareness, and social skills. PALs also enrich their community through service learning projects and extended volunteer activities.
Photography Club Meetings: The Photography Club consists of
students with an interest in photography. Our club takes pictures of various groups for the yearbook as well as homecoming a Sadie pictures. WE also travel to BISD Elementary campuses to photograph students with Santa and take 5th Grade Graduation pictures.
Saga, The (Yearbook) The Saga, Bryan High School’s yearbook, is a pictorial and written record of each school year. All activities, organizations, sports, academic areas, students, faculty, and staff are represented. Students should
have taken Journalism I, and Photography. Desktop publishing experiences are helpful.
Science Club Meetings: Meets second Tuesday 4:00 Science Club affords students who are interested in science opportunities to be involved in science related field trips, hear guest speakers, develop leadership skills, and explore a variety of science activities.

Shy-Annes The Shy-Annes are a competitive dance and drill team. They perform at football games, basketball games, and pep rallies. They with cheerleaders and band to prompt and support school spirit and good sportsmanship. The
Shy-Annes participate in a contest season each year in which they perform a variety of dance routines.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Sponsor(s): Meetings: Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is made up of academically outstanding students in Spanish III or above. Our purpose is to recognize the student who is academically outstanding at advanced
levels of Spanish language study. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is supported by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
Spanish Club Meetings: Every 2nd and 4th Thursday 4:00-4:30 in Room 2129 The Spanish Club strives to offer students opportunities for leadership by participating as officers and committee members in the club. Club activities involve creating relationships with the local Hispanic community. The Spanish Club volunteers to help with Fiestas Patrias in September, volunteers with the after school program at the Girl’s and Boy's Club in Bryan, and participates in the Angel Tree gift program at Christmas. In the spring, we experience the Hispanic culture of San Antonio on our club trip.
Speech and Debate Club Meetings: Every Monday and Wednesday from 4:00-5:30 - Lincoln-Douglas Debate along with Extemporaneous Speaking in room 5225. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:30 - Prose Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Original Oratory in room 5225. Speech/Debate team members in Oral Interpretation Events select, research, analyze, adapt, interpret, and perform literary texts. Team members in Lincoln-Douglas develop skills in argumentation and become interested in current issues, develop sound critical thinking, and sharpen communication skills.
All members attend tournaments regularly to compete against other high schools across the state.
Student Council Meetings: Every 1st and 3rd Monday from 4:00-5:00 in Room 5179 These elected, and non-elected work students, comprise the forum for student government on campus. They promote closer cooperation between the faculty and the student body. The Council operates elections (Student Body, Homecoming Queen, etc.), collects for charities, sponsors health and safety programs, and more. Elections are held during the spring of each year, but students may work on the council at any time during the year.
Technology Academy Student Organization (TASO) Meetings: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays TASO provides socialization and community service opportunities for Tech Academy students. TASO is active in the recruitment process of Technology Academy, holds tutorial sessions for all subjects for any interested students, and supports Tech Academy teachers by managing bulletin boards and assisting in organizational tasks to improve appearance and function for our classrooms. TASO also provides graphic and bulletin board services to other organizations at BHS.
TSA - Technology Student Association Sponsor(s): Meetings: A national, state, regional, and local organization dedicated to "Learning To Live In A Technical World". We compete at regional, state, and national levels in various technology
application fields. We emphasize graphics, but have also won state competitions in Computer Construction and in Problem Solving. We have competed at the national level in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Denver, Colorado. This year’s national competition is in Orlando, Florida. Meetings are held every other week. There are dues for state and national affiliation.
TCEA - Texas Computer Education Association-Computer Programming Competition Meetings: TCEA Computer Programming competitions are timed contests in which teams of students program solutions to problems. The regional contest is usually in February and held at Bryan High School. The state competition is in March. Every contest is a hands-on programming/problem solving competition.
United Way Youth Leadership Cabinet Meetings: Meets every Tuesday 7:00 PM at the Community Health Center
Valhalla Speech & Debate Team Meetings: First Thursday 4:00-6:00 in Room 3123 Students in this organization travel to competitions throughout the year. They also participate in the Texas Forensic Association, the National Forensic League, and the University Interscholastic League. We have had students qualify for nationals in Portland, Oregon, Oklahoma City, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Students in this activity have been successful in reaching the final rounds at TFA State and UIL State competition. Speech and Debate is offered as both a class and a club.
VICA - Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Meetings: Auto Tech: Contact 209-2570, Cosmetology: Every Tuesday 4:00-6:00 in Room 6120 This club is helpful in training students for careers after high school. Bryan High has four branches of this club, all of which attend competitions, seminars, and field trips related to their branch. Cosmetology, Welding, Auto Mechanics, and Media Tech all are part of VICA. We have competitions in February for District. In April, we have State competition.
Vike Squad Meetings: Fridays after school during football season Students in this organization are involved in creating school spirit. The Vike Squad attends all football games and
provides the "Viking Tunnel" and runs the school flag to increase school spirit. |
