Bryan High School is a testing site for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. The test is usually administered in November; only juniors and seniors can sign up to take the test. Interested students should talk to their advisor about signing up.
What is the ASVAB? The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery assesses your abilities in ten areas: word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, arithmetic reasoning, mathematics knowledge, general science, auto and shop information, numerical operations, and coding speed.
What is an aptitude? An aptitude is an ability you have – aptitudes are things you are good at doing or are quick to learn and understand. Knowing your aptitudes can help you make a career choice.
If I take the ASVAB, do I have to join the military? No. Recruiters may access your scores, but there is NO obligation for you to join the armed services. Taking the ASVAB is required before enlisting; scores are good for two years.
How much does the ASVAB cost, and how long is the test? The ASVAB at Bryan High School is free. The entire test will take approximately three hours. Students will be excused from their classes; they will be expected to make up any missed work.
When will I get my scores, and who will give them to me? The scores and additional career information will be sent to BHS approximately one month after the testing date. Advisors will distribute scores.
