FINAL EXAM EXEMPTION POLICY
Students may be eligible to exempt certain final exams based on grade level, attendance, tardies, and the semester grade average for the class. Students who have a 90 or above can have no more than 3 absences; students who have an 80-89 may have no more than 2 absences.  Additionally, the student must have no discipline referrals and must pass all sections of TAKS.

9th graders can exempt 2 final exams in the second semester only.

10th graders can exempt 2 final exams in the second semester only.

11th graders can exempt 2 final exams in the first semester and 3 final exams in the second semester.  However, the student cannot exempt the same finals both semesters.

12th graders can exempt 2 final exams in the first semester and all 7 in the second semester.

PROCESS
Students must follow this process in order to exempt final exams.  This process begins part-way through the last six weeks in each semester.

1.      Visit your assistant principal's office to fill out an exam exemption form for EACH exam you want to exempt.  You will need to fill in the course title and teacher's name.  Be sure to print clearly.

2.      Your request for exemption will be reviewed to determine your eligibility.  If it meets requirements, the exemption form will be given to your teacher(s), who will then review your attendance and grades.

3.      Your teacher will notify you the day before the first exam day (typically a Tuesday) that your request has been granted or denied.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR EXEMPTING STUDENTS
Juniors and Seniors who exempt exams are NOT required to be on campus during the exam time.  If they have no final exams on a particular day, they must report to the attendance office to sign-in.
