Students at Lamar Alternative attend either from 8:00 a.m. to Noon or from Noon to 4:00 p.m. and learn in a self-paced environment. Students must have their own means of transportation (no
Admission to Lamar Alternative is based on assessment (TAKS scores), grades, attendance, behavior, and an interview. Students who are interested in attending Lamar Alternative should first visit with their Bryan High School or Rudder High School Academic Advisor who will give them an application. Prior to applying, a student must have passed Algebra 1; it also is recommended that the student have completed a Fine Arts credit.
Interviews will be conducted every Wednesday, beginning September 9th. Students who are accepted into Lamar Alternative will begin classes the Friday after they interview.
