We will ensure a positive environment for learning and differentiated teaching styles to develop each child's personal strengths and abilities.  We set high expectations for parental involvement in the education and discipline of their children.  We accept the responsibility to provide opportunities for community involvement.
Sam Houston Elementary School is committed to excellence in teaching and learning for all students.

Two BISD schools named to TBEC Honor Roll
Sam Houston and Johnson Elementary were named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition 2011 Honor Roll.
Of the more than 8,000 Texas public schools, only 234 campuses earned this distinction in 2011.  The TBEC Honor Roll is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas. It recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations.  TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state’s most rigorous standard – commended – in every subject.

Upcoming events:

  • February 14--Valentine's Day Parties
"Be The One Literacy Campaign"
Bryan ISD's "Be The One Literacy Campaign" kicked off on Jan. 23, National Reading Day, with a mayoral proclamation at Kemp Elementary. Reading tips and goals were sent home to parents of pre-K - 5th grade that week.

Public Service Announcements about reading are airing on Ch. 16, and KBTX, and Suddenlink will soon begin placing them on various channels in the Suddenlink lineup.

Local celebrities are lending their support by participating in a poster series on reading.
Thank you for Being The One!

Gingerbread Houses
Classes from Sam Houston created Gingerbread houses that were displayed at First Victoria.  Parents and Community members bid on the Gingerbread Houses.  Here are just a few of the pictures of the houses.  You can view more pictures on our Facebook Page.
