Technology in Our School Technology has become a big part of our classrooms at Anson Jones Elementary.  Below are some examples. A number of teachers participated in the Brazos-Sabine Connection  during the four years of a TIE (Technology Integration into Education) Grant.  The money from this grant provided a laptop computer for each teacher/participant as well as training on its use.  Bryan ISD was one of 15 school districts benefiting from this grant. During the 2000-2001 school year teacchers participated in a TIF grant which brought new computers into our school.  With this grant, teachers were taught how to create lessons and web pages to use in the classroom. BISD Project Integrate was another opportunity for our teachers to again experience on intergrating classroom academics and technology.  Here teachers created interactive web pages on different subjects students were studing in the classroom.  For this experience, Apple computer support staff were flown in to work with BISD teachers and our technology staff.    During the summer of 2004 some of our teachers participated in the New Jersey Writing Grant.  Through this grant each teacher who participated received a iBook and new skills to help integrate writing, and technology skills for our students.     C.O.W.s (computers on wheels) are the new exciting component of our technology integration.  This is a wireless computer lab on wheels which holds 15 iBooks for our students to use in the classroom.  Teachers are able to take the cart to their classrooms, and students can sit at their desks to do internet research, create multimedia projects, and print - all without any wires attached!   Copyright © 2004 Jones Elementary School All rights reserved.   Comments or question concerning this web site may be directed to the webmaster
