About this Course

United States History is a challenging course, which examines significant people, issues and events since the Civil War. Throughout this course we will take a critical look at how America has grown culturally, economically, and politically since the mid-1800s. An emphasis will be placed on present day issues and how they relate to the past. The main goal of this course is for you to understand how the United States has emerged into a world power and the people who have played a role in making America what it is today. In order to achieve this goal there will be a variety of activities planned to help you make these connections.  Activities will include: discussions, small group activities, worksheets, primary source analysis, etc. My hope is that this course will encourage you to be an active participant in American Society and analyze issues that occur in the present by reflecting on the past.
