Yearbook Production
Students enrolled in Yearbook Production are responsible for producing the SAGA, Bryan High School's yearbook. Students do everything it takes to publish the book--from taking the pictures and writing the copy, to designing the pages and creating computer graphics, students do it all.
Valuable computer skills are gained through working on the yearbook. Students become proficient at using desktop publishing software as well as graphics and type manipulation software.
Students also learn advertising principles and financial management by raising the funds to produce the book through a community-wide advertising campaign at the beginning of the school year.
Perhaps one of the most valuable skills learned in yearbook production is the real-world skill of cooperation and teamwork. Students learn to take responsibility for a product and see it through to the finish, no matter what difficulties may arise.
Students should take this course both semesters if possible, as continuity of staff is extremely important in book publishing.
